Your day, at a glance, in the notch

What is next, without opening Calendar.

Recording of the Calendar tool: two reminders are ticked off one after the other. Sample data.

What it does.

Up next
Events from today and tomorrow that have not ended yet, in time order, each with the colour of its calendar.
Tick off reminders
Click the circle beside a reminder to mark it complete. It is saved straight back to the Reminders app.
Uses what you already have
NotchStar reads Calendar and Reminders through macOS, so iCloud, Google and Exchange accounts you set up already appear.
On Home too
The Home tab shows the next two events and reminders, so most days you never need to open this tab.

The most common reason to open Calendar is to answer one question: what is next? The Calendar tab answers it in one glance.

Events and reminders together

The left column lists upcoming events with a coloured bar and a start time, or “All day”. The right column lists reminders you still have to do. Click a circle to complete one.

Permissions

macOS asks once for calendar access and once for reminders access. Both can be changed later under System Settings, Privacy & Security.

Good to know
  • It shows events; it cannot create or edit them.
  • It looks ahead to the end of tomorrow.
  • It needs your permission the first time. If you decline, the tab explains how to allow it in System Settings.

Questions about Calendar and Reminders.

Does NotchStar sync or upload my calendar?

No. It reads your events through macOS on your Mac and does not copy them anywhere.

Which calendars does it show?

Every calendar visible in the Calendar app, using each calendar's own colour.

Can it create events?

Not at the moment. It is a viewer and a reminder checklist.
